Greek lokum (loukoúmi in Greek) is a Greek variation of the Turkish delight, a famous Middle Eastern sweet. In Greece, it is a very popular traditional treat, rich in taste and aroma. You can find a variety of flavors; lokum is made by a gel of starch and sugar and flavored with fruits such as bergamot (green delight), rosewater (red delight) or Chios mastic (yellow delight), a unique natural aromatic resin that is only found in the Greek island of Chios. Some lokums contain various nuts, while almost all of them are dusted with icing sugar. Enjoy these little sweet cubes on their own, with Greek coffee or with a glass of cool water.
